I advice using Visual Studio Code for Flutter development with the Flutter extension.

macOS

For macOS silicon

Some Flutter components require the Rosetta 2 translation process on Macs running Apple silicon. To run all Flutter components on Apple silicon, install Rosetta 2.

sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

Android Studio

If you don't need to develop for Android, you can skip this step.

Install with Homebrew

brew install --cask android-studio

Dart SDK

Install Dart SDK with Homebrew

brew install dart-sdk

Flutter

Install Flutter with Homebrew

brew install flutter

Doctor

Check if everything is installed correctly

flutter doctor

Android licenses

To accept Android licenses, run

flutter doctor --android-licenses
